Snow Plow News recently caught up with Louis-Martin Henault from Normand, a well-established Quebec-based company founded in 1857. Now officially part of the Metal Pless family following a recent acquisition. Normand is entering an exciting new chapter—and it starts with a powerful innovation: LiveEdge technology.

This marks Normand’s first product collaboration with Metal Pless, and it’s a big one.

The LiveEdge system is designed with segmented cutting edges that move independently—adapting to surface contours like a snake. This allows for more precise snow and ice removal, better surface contact, and less damage to pavement, brick, or uneven ground.

According to Henault, there are four LiveEdge blade material options available:

  • Carbon Steel – A dependable option for general use
  • Stainless Steel – Ideal for long-lasting, corrosion-resistant performance
  • Tivar – A softer material, perfect for protecting sensitive surfaces
  • Hardox 450 – One of the strongest steels on the market, built for heavy-duty applications

With this technology, operators can expect cleaner results in fewer passes, making it one of the most efficient systems on the market today.

“This is our new baby,” says Henault. “It’s the way to get the cleanest, most effective job done—period.”

As winter fleets continue to evolve, innovations like LiveEdge show how the combination of experience and fresh collaboration can lead to standout solutions. Snow removal pros looking to upgrade their equipment should keep an eye on what Normand and Metal Pless have in store.
