Nordic Edge’s innovation of a curved edge attachment for snowplows reduces the chance of damage occurring when plowing and can be applied to any type of snow plow.
The Curved Edge Plow
Kenneth Lester from Nordic Plow states, “At Nordic Plow, through using our rounded edge, we’ve learned that municipalities normally fight road damage and truck damage. One way to avoid that is to take the straight edge that others make and flip it to a curved edge, which we have a patent on. The curved edge allows the operator to go down the road and not catch manhole covers and roll over little obstructions instead of bouncing or tearing both the plow and road up. The plow with the curved edge just rolls over potential hazards and still gets the job done, so it saves the company’s money and operator’s money from damage repairs; that’s really what we are in business to do. When you nail an obstruction in the road, that plow bounces and tears up the hydraulics and blades, which cost the operators money in repairs”.

Versatility and Minimizing Negative Events
Lester also mentions a key ideology that Nordic Edge believes in, which is minimizing negative events. He says, “So our job is to help alleviate potential risks, which we call minimizing negative events. Installing the curved edge is probably one of our biggest advantages. Most edges are long, whereas ours come in three and four foot lengths/sections. One person can very easily take the old edge off and bolt ours right on, so you can mount the Nordic Edge on any plow. We’ve developed a slotted edge that will fit any plow from any manufacturer. Regardless of the plow you’re using, the edge will bolt right on because it’s slotted. It’s kind of a slick idea and actually pretty simple”.
