Snow Plow News recently caught up with Mike Zimprich of Hiniker to talk about the latest addition to their lineup — the company’s new poly tailgate spreaders, now available in 6 and 10 cubic foot sizes.

Zimprich explained that these new spreaders easily attach using a 2-inch receiver hitch, making them compatible with both UTVs and pickup trucks. Each unit comes with its own controller, and a vibrator option is available for enhanced material flow.

“These models are based on our existing stainless-steel design,” said Zimprich. “But the market asked for a poly option, so we converted the smaller sizes to meet that demand.”

One of the standout features of Hiniker’s new spreaders is what they call the ‘bubbler spinner.’ The system moves material up around a flight auger, then drops it down through a pipe directly onto the spinner. “The big advantage,” Zimprich noted, “is that when you shut it off, it actually stops. You don’t get that dribble of material falling out as you drive — it saves product and keeps things cleaner.”

Both poly tailgate spreaders — the 6 and 10 cubic foot versions — share the same durable components and receiver connection. “They’re especially handy for sidewalk applications,” added Zimprich. “You can dial in a 4- to 5-foot spread pattern with precision, which makes them perfect for tight areas or UTV setups.”

Hiniker’s move into poly construction marks another step toward lighter, more efficient equipment designed to meet contractor demands for flexibility and reliability through the toughest winter conditions.
