Aebi Schmidt has brought the Flexigo — a multi-functional tractor long popular in Europe — to the U.S. Built for year-round use, it tackles snow and ice with multiple attachments and fits into tight spaces like bike lanes where trucks can’t.
Snow Plow News sat down with Sean Brunger of Aebi Schmidt to talk about one of their most versatile machines on the market today — the Flexigo.
While the Flexigo has been a familiar sight in Europe for years, it officially launched in the U.S. about 18 months ago. Built as a multi-functional tractor, the Flexigo is designed to carry a wide range of attachments on both the front and rear, making it a true year-round machine.
Built for Winter
When it comes to snow and ice, the Flexigo can be outfitted with:
- A dozer blade
- A V-plow
- A snow blower attachment on the front
- A salt spreader or brine sprayer on the back
This flexibility allows operators to take on just about any winter challenge. One of the biggest advantages, Brunger noted, is the machine’s ability to access tight areas that a standard pickup truck can’t reach — an increasingly important factor for urban snow management.
Beyond Snow: Bike Lanes and More
Europe has often set the trend for new snow and ice solutions, and the Flexigo is no exception. As more cities expand their dedicated bike lane networks, traditional equipment often struggles to fit in the narrow 5- to 6-foot widths. That’s where the Flexigo has already proven its worth overseas — sweeping and maintaining bike lanes year-round. Now, U.S. cities are beginning to see the same need.
Operator Comfort Matters
Brunger emphasized that operator comfort was a top priority in the Flexigo’s design. After all, operators can spend 8 or more hours in the cab during a shift. The machine comes equipped with:
- Air ride seating
- Heating and cooling system
- Bluetooth stereo
- An ergonomic cab built for long days on the job
“It’s got everything you could ask for,” Brunger said.
