Scott Moorman is the Director of Snow and Ice at Buyers Products. Moorman has been with Buyers Products for 17 years and ran the Engineering department for about 12 years. A couple of years ago, Moorman moved solely into the snow and ice product role. Moorman talks with Snow Plow News about where Buyers is focused currently and how that will shape their products in the future.
Buyers is focused on expanding their v-plow line. Last year they released the VXX 105 for class 5 and 6 trucks and it was very well received. This year Buyers is really excited about the VMX 75, which is a 500 pound v-plow that fits onto half-ton trucks. Half-ton trucks keep getting bigger, but the front ends keep getting weaker, so Buyers is trying to cater to the trucks that are out on the market.
Buyers Products pride themselves in being both durable and dependable. They design and build products as if they were building them for themselves. Their teams are staffed with not only engineers, but with real-life product users. The Buyers teams understand how products are supposed to work, and put forth the effort to ensure each product is exceptional. The Buyers engineering team and talent continues to grow, which lends itself to more innovative products. The VMX development was an opportunity to start from scratch, to take all the best lessons of the VMD and the VXF and incorporate them into a new plow. The Buyers team optimized the weight, a lot of cool new technologies and features and some new patents on this plow. The way these plows were developed and designed will trickle into their other products as they do plow design updates. Buyers is always re-designing processes, products and materials to keep up with the ever-demanding market. The Buyers teams are never still, they are focused on constant improvement for their customers and the plowing industry.
